Our neighbor,Mr.Kihachi Azumi, who lived across the road, died yesterday evening at 6:21. He was 78 years old. We have been acquainted with late Mr.Azumi and his wife since we began to live here about 17 years ago. Mr.Azumi had been suffering from diabetes so until several years before, he had taken a walking exercise almost every day. I often saw him walking along the Tomakomai river while I,myself, was walking there, and sometimes had a chat with him on the way. But about a couple of years ago, he came down with stroke, and became unable to walk any more. He had been in hospital for a month or two.
Late Mr.Azumi's funeral wake is going to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday,May 23rd,at Akeno Funeral Hall, and his farewell service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As a vice-chair of the neighborhood association,I will have to serve as the chief of the care-takers of the funeral services, and make speeches in place of the bereaved family.
