How pleasant it was to drive through the Rresearch Forest of Hokkaido University!
It was a very fine day. I drove with Ayako through the Research Forests of Hokkaido University in the suburbs of Tomakomai. We saw beautiful green all over hills and valleys with late-blooming wild cherries here and there. We were surprised to see three wild deer coming out among the trees. In some places,we walked into the forest to collect edible wild vegetables like fuki(butterbur) and 'sudoki' or 'sudoke' we call in Japanese. We ate these wild edible plants for dinner and they were very good. On the way back home, there was a beautiful park golf field near the entrance to the Research Forest, and we enjoyed playing park golf there for about two hours.
